Dorney Lake Half Marathon

I aim to do this fantastically flat 13.1 mile race with Steven Jelly a fellow Race Hub Club member. It will be a great test as to where my fitness levels are and how well I am getting over my injuries.

Dorney Lake is a purpose-built rowing lake in England. It is near the village of Dorney, Buckinghamshire, and is around 3 km (2 miles) west of Windsor and Eton, close to the River Thames. The lake is privately owned and financed by Eton College. - Wikipedia

Gloucester 20 Mile Race

Another test to find out how well the training is going. I’m doing this one with another new guide, David Chapman, who will be guiding me for the London Marathon.

Gloucester is a city and district in southwest England, the county city of Gloucestershire. Gloucester lies close to the Welsh border, on the River Severn, between the Cotswolds to the east and the Forest of Dean to the southwest. Gloucester was founded in AD 97 by the Romans. - Wikipedia

The London Marathon

My fourth London marathon and I hope to do as close to 3 hours as is possible. I may even dip under if my training goes well. That would be amazing indeed. I couldn't do the London marathon 2017 as I was injured with a stress fracture to my left foot. I'll keep my blog updated with my training progress.

Half Ironman

This is a half distance Ironman. 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike (tandem) and a 13.1 mile run. This will be my guide and Coach Marc Laithwaite’s first race together and will give us a good idea of how well the partnership is working before the big one later this year.

An Ironman 70.3, also known as a Half Ironman, is one of a series of long distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). The "70.3" refers to the total distance in miles (113.0 km) covered in the race, consisting of a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim, a 56-mile (90 km) bike ride, and a 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run.

Ironman Guiness World Record Attempt

Marc and I will be embarking upon an epic adventure and colossal challenge of smashing my own World Record by over an hour. Marc willlllllll be helping me to be the first Blind person to go under 10 hours for a full Ironman. Fingers crossed we do it. And, if we don’t, we have fun trying!!

The fastest time to complete an Ironman blindfolded is 11 hr 3 min 31 sec and was achieved by Haseeb Ahmad (UK) at IRONMAN Barcelona, in Barcelona, Spain, on 2 October 2016. Haseeb is registered blind and has represented GB in paratriathlon events. He completed the 3.85 km (2.4 mile) swim, 180 km (112 mile) bike and 42.19 km (26.2 mile) run wearing blacked out swimming goggles with his guide Duncan Shea-Simonds.
